In light of the recent developments in the town, most residents and the public may be confused with the traffic signages and street addressing signages. In this regard, Phuentsholing Thromde would like to inform that street addressing signages are totally different from traffic signages. The ongoing installation of street addressing signages are part of the City Addressing System initiated for the core town which shall be rolled out to the whole town in a phase wise manner. This will allow proper addressing for the entire Thromde area up to the unit level of a building.
In the absence of systematic street names, building numbers and unit numbers, it becomes very difficult for the service providers to act promptly especially during emergencies. Thromde has maintained most of the existing street names for the convenience of the public and introduced new names only for those without street names and irrelevant existing street names. As part of the components of the street addressing system, all the buildings and units will be numbered following the international standard and practice.
Therefore, all the residents and the property owners are requested to kindly support and cooperate with the ongoing works. There are few incidents where the street addressing posts were damaged. If such culprits are caught, Thromde shall take serious action as per the law of the country in consultation with the relevant authorities. Furthermore, as informed during the public consultation meeting, cost for installation of building and unit numbers shall be recovered from the property owners.
